Shah Alam, 27 January - Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA) today launched the PR1MA BIM (Building Information Modelling) Guide at its PR1MA BIM Townhall to promote consistent development and to ensure uniformity in the use of BIM across all PR1MA housing development projects.
Held at The Saujana Hotel, Malaysia’s first ever officially launched BIM guide that is set for PR1MA’s future developments put PR1MA as Malaysia’s foremost provider of affordable housing for middle-class urban dwellers.
PR1MA Chief Operating Officer, Ar. Aminuddin Abdul Manaf said, “PR1MA is a government agency that not only focusses on providing homes to those who need them, but also has a long term vision of improving the country’s construction industry.”
BIM is an integrated process that enables building professionals to analyse the physical characteristics of a project and its function throughout the construction process with significant improvements in delivery standards.
Home construction will be far more cost-effective and will change the way projects are planned and executed with reduced times and improved accuracy across designs, variation and final build.
Also speaking at the launch, PR1MA’s Chief Executive Officer, YBhg Dato' Abdul Mutalib bin Alias said, “This is another initiative by PR1MA to ensure that the market prices of PR1MA homes are lower than the market price of houses in the vicinity.”
“The efficiency of BIM technology will ensure that construction costs are accurate prior to construction, with almost no run-offs. This will ensure that there is no wastage of materials and that the development projects adhere to the stipulated construction schedule,” added PR1MA BIM’s Assistant Vice President and PR1MA BIM Guide advisor, KC Ho.
BIM is an international technology that has been utilised by many developed countries such as Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of development projects. It also enhances collaboration between the developer, project manager, quantity surveyor, engineer and architect to manage costs and resources.
