PETALING JAYA, 11 November 2015 – PerbadananPR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA) embarks on an educational partnership with the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) to explore a vast range of innovative solutions to affordable and sustainable housing through young architects in an inaugural competition, PR1MA-PAM Architectural Ideas Student Competition 2015.
The launching ceremony was led by the Chief Executive Officer of PR1MA, Dato’ Abdul Mutalib Alias, witnessed by PAM Chairman for Awards, Competitions and Events Comittee, Ar. Sarizal Yusman Yusof.
Dato’ Abdul Mutalib Alias said the partnership between PR1MA and PAM serves as a stage for aspiring young architects to take part in challenging their minds and showcase the ideal solution for future quality affordable housing and design.
“We are confident that the outcome from these talented group of architects will not only allow us to explore technical solutions to affordable housing without comprimising its quality but it will also provide a wider range of the best conducive living environment,” added Mutalib.
Sarizal said, the institution is very pleased to collaborate with PR1MA through this exciting competition. “The competition provides an opportunity for us to contribute our support towards the national housing agenda carried out by PR1MA in efforts to ensure more middle income earners in Malaysia are able to afford their own house through efficient and innovative structural designs for a sustainable community.”
“These are our future leaders. This initative will shape the future landscape of affordable housing for middle income earners in the country. We are excited to be a part of it and looking forward to seeing the results,” he added.
Factors affecting the concept of affordability span across a breadth of issues. The competition will be judged by creative architectural exploration that covers innovative technological solution, community and life cycle support, and design efficiency among others.
The competition is open to Malaysian students studying locally as well as those who are currently studying abroad aged from 35 years old and below with a registration fee of RM50.00 per entry. Final date of registration is 25 November 2015. All winners will be announced at its Awards Ceremony in February 2016.
