PR1MA to give youths a chance to contribute their ideas in building homes fit for their needs in the community
PETALING JAYA, 12 SEPTEMBER 2017 – Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA), via PR1MA-MIP Township Ideas Competition (2017/18), is calling out to young Malaysian designers to provide fresh ideas and insights for the creation of future townships to suit the needs and lifestyle of their community.
A joint effort between PR1MA and the Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP), this competition aims to generate interest amongst youth, young graduates and new practicing planning firms to participate and engage in developing design and planning ideas for creating a quality housing environment, neighbourhood and township with special interest in youth and community.
The theme of this competition - “Youth in Community (YiC) - Why I See”, is to create a residential township that enhances community spirit in a well-planned, sustainable and resilient development with special focus on the roles of youth and needs in the community.
PR1MA Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Abdul Mutalib Alias said the creation of a harmonious and dynamic community living goes beyond the brick and mortar aspect of a property development.
“PR1MA is responsible for the creation of a quality, conducive and harmonious living environment for the PR1MA community. Our homes are designed to include services and facilities that suit the needs and lifestyles of the middle-income group (M40).
However, the needs of the community are continuously evolving and that is why our planning approach needs to be dynamic and our thinking fresh and visionary. We need to be brave enough to think creatively and be innovative.
PR1MA believes that youths play an important role in the community and this competition will enable them to translate their aspirations into designs that not only reflect their needs and interests but also their role in the community,” he told a Press conference after a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony between PR1MA and MIP, here today.
In the MOA, Abdul Mutalib signed on behalf of PR1MA while MIP was represented by its President TPr. Hj Ihsan Zainal Mokhtar.
With more than RM100,000 cash prizes up for grabs, the competition is divided into four categories –
a) Neighbourhood Design Ideas for Students (planning, architecture and landscape)
b) Township Design Ideas for MIP Young Graduates (planning),

Students participating in the first category and members of the public taking part in the last category will not be required to pay any registration fees while MIP young graduates and MIP New Planning Firms are required to pay RM100 and RM150 respectively per entry.
