Government fulfils promise to increase Rakyat’s home ownership
TELUK INTAN, PERAK, 18 APRIL 2018: The Federal Government through Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA) continues to fulfil its pledge to deliver homes for the rakyat in Teluk Intan, particularly the middle-income (M40) group.
The new PR1MA @ Teluk Intan development, which consists of 957 single and double-storey units, with an estimated Gross Development Value (GDV) of RM232 million, is expected to fulfil the demand for quality homes of the locals.
Priced between RM185,000 and RM250,000 per unit, PR1MA @ Teluk Intan is scheduled for completion by year 2020. Phase 1 of the project which consists of 523 single-storey units are opened for sale and priced not more than RM200,000 per unit.
“In the coming years, Perak’s socio-economy is expected to experience robust growth, in line with the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) Development Blueprint 2016-2025. The vibrant economy will create more jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities in Perak, which in turn will generate spillover benefits to improve the rakyat’s living standards as well as drive the demand for quality homes. In this regard, PR1MA is committed to play its role in delivering quality homes to cater to the needs of the growing middle-income group in Perak including Teluk Intan,” said Dato' Abdul Mutalib bin Alias, Chief Executive Officer of PR1MA.
“Moreover, the PR1MA@Teluk Intan development will also be able to leverage on its proximity and strategic location next to the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) campus, which is targeted for completion by end of this year, thus helping to transform the local socio-economy to become more vibrant,” he added.
Earlier today, Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia, had officiated the ground-breaking ceremony of PR1MA @ Teluk Intan during his working visit to Perak. Present also at this momentous occasion include Dato’ Seri DiRaja Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, Menteri Besar of Perak and Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong, Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, who is also Member of Parliament for Teluk Intan.
Currently, more than 20,000 PR1MA homesthat are fairly-priced between RM120,000 and RM350,000 with lifestyle and community features are available in Perak. Specially catered for the M40 group, who earns an average household income of RM6,000, PR1MA homes in Perak are in strategic locations such as Bandar Meru Raya, Sungai Raia, Tapah, Kamunting, Kampung Paloh and Kampar. In Perak alone, PR1MA Members of Corporation (MOC) has approved more than 20,148 homes for development. Out of this total, 4,350 units have been completed while 8,071 units are under various stage of construction.
As with PR1MA homes nationwide, these residential units in Perak are also equipped with lifestyle and community features commonly found in projects by private developers such as multipurpose hall, playground, surau, child care centre and swimming pool.
In addition to delivering on the national housing agenda particularly for the M40, PR1MA also delivers economic benefits across the nation, helping to transform the construction value chain by uplifting standards and driving innovation in the industry. These efforts solidify the Government’s commitment to realize its dream in making Malaysia a high-income nation by 2020.
“PR1MA will continue to support the Government in ensuring that M40 income group will not be overlooked when it comes to obtaining fairly-priced quality homes and ease their financial pressures. The PR1MA @ Teluk Intan development is another example of what the Government is doing to fulfil its promise of delivering homes for the M40 income group especially for the rakyat in Teluk Intan,” concluded Dato’ Mutalib Alias.
