
YBhg. Dato’ Nor Azmie Diron was
appointed as a Member of Corporation (MOC) on 7 April 2025.
YBhg. Dato’ Nor Azmie is the Secretary
General of the Ministry of Economy, Malaysia. In this role, he plays a key part
in shaping the nation’s economic direction, particularly in the formulation,
implementation, and monitoring of Malaysia’s medium and long-term socioeconomic
development plans. His portfolio includes macroeconomic policy, energy
transition strategies, and the distribution of national development
expenditure. He also oversees the preparation of the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan
(RMK13) for the period 2026–2030.
He began his career in the civil service
in 1995 as a Diplomatic and Administrative Officer. Over the years, he has
served at both the Federal and State Government levels, including the Ministry
of Rural Development, the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development, the Prime
Minister’s Department and the Selangor Economic Planning Unit.
In 2015, he was appointed Deputy
Selangor State Secretary (Development) and subsequently promoted to State
Finance Officer in 2018. He later served as the State Secretary of Selangor. In
2021, he was appointed Deputy Director General (Macro) at the Economic Planning
Unit, Prime Minister’s Department, before assuming his current position in
2022.
YBhg. Dato’ Nor Azmie holds a Bachelor of Economics from Universiti Malaya (1993) and a Master’s in Information Technology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (2004). He has also completed executive programmes at international institutions, including the Advanced Management Development Program at Harvard Business School (2009) and the Leadership and Strategic Thinking Course at Columbia University (2014).
